At Easter time, everyone went in search of chocolate eggs to present to family and friends, such as those made by the company Kinder. However, anyone looking for this brand on the market could not find it, as Anvisa prohibited their sale. This is because there have been a number of confirmed cases of Kinder Egg with Salmonella in European countries. In this case, the products were manufactured in Belgium and distributed in Brazil. Anvisa justified that the decision to suspend sales would be an attitude of “prudence”.

Salmonella contamination cases
Approximately 150 cases of Salmonella have been confirmed in at least nine countries in Europe, according to AFP information. In this way, the responsible bodies in these countries mapped the source of the problem, and thus discovered that it came from a Belgian factory.
Salmonella is a disease that presents with symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This happens when food is not cooked enough or not properly stored. So, extremely harmful bacteria take over these products, as happened in the case of Kinder Egg.
As a form of treatment, patients need to resort directly to the use of antibiotics to reverse the action of bacteria in the stomach and intestine. Even if there is no effective treatment in the correct period, the patient may die.
See batch contaminated by Salmonella
As already mentioned, the products from this specific Ferrero factory are not distributed in Brazil. However, Anvisa warned about the possibility of products arriving in Brazil through passengers coming from Europe. In addition, the Health Surveillance Agency also found it coherent to point out which batch is contaminated as a safety measure.
Therefore, if you have a Kinder Egg in your house, make sure it does not belong to the lot. Ferrero Ardennes S.A – Rue Pietro Ferrero, 5 Arlon 6700 Belgium. Even if your chocolate is not from this specific batch, health authorities still recommend avoiding the consumption of Kinder products until further notice.
