Japanese company proposes that people travel the world "without clothes"; understand

Japan Airlines is offering its international travelers bound for Tokyo a clothing rental service as part of a one-year trial.

This initiative aims to encourage passengers to choose to rent clothes at affordable prices, instead of bringing their own clothes.

Customers will receive the clothes at their destination. The purpose behind this service is to help reduce carbon emissions and promote a more circular economy through the reuse of clothing.

While the exact impact has yet to be assessed, this is a measure aimed at sustainability on the part of the airline.

From this week until the end of August 2024, passengers traveling to Tokyo will have the option to use a digital service called “Any Wear, Anywhere”. This service was developed in partnership between Japan Airlines and Sumitomo Corp, a global business group that operates in 66 countries.

Travel without clothes!

Through this service, passengers will be able to choose clothing for rent in a convenient and affordable way, allowing them to dress appropriately during their stay in Tokyo.

This initiative aims to offer travelers a more practical and sustainable option in terms of transporting their own clothes.

With the “Any Wear, Anywhere” service, passengers have the option of browsing the app's virtual shelves up to a month before the trip.

They can curate collections of tops and pants for every season, with categories spanning gender, size and occasion, from casual to dressy. Collections are available for prices ranging from $28 to $49.

It is important to note that travelers will still need to bring their own socks and underwear, as these items are not provided by the clothing rental service.

Upon arrival at the hotel in Japan, service participants will receive a bag containing the pre-selected clothes, which will be freshly washed and ironed. They will be free to use these parts for a period of up to two weeks before returning them to reception.

In addition, the service is also available to cater for Airbnb guests. However, in this case, it is necessary to coordinate the pick-up and drop-off locations with the hosts.

This way, both travelers staying in hotels and those who opt for Airbnb can enjoy the convenience and practicality of this clothing rental service during their stay in Japan.
