Defining intelligence is difficult
Defining intelligence requires a certain delicacy, after all, there are different types of intelligence and different characteristics that show this in each individual. It also depends on what one interprets as intelligence. For example, for some it is knowledge about a specific subject, while for others it is emotional intelligence. However, there are some characteristics that show intelligence, regardless of type and that go beyond knowledge about something in particular.
Traits of Smart People
The first characteristic is to know your limits. In life, all individuals will come across challenges and unexpected situations, however, how we deal with them is what matters most. Knowing how to resist external pressure and respect who you are demonstrates great emotional intelligence. Still in this aspect of intelligence, managing emotions is another factor that stands out. It is very common for feelings to take over and leave us confused in certain situations, so having emotional intelligence is a big plus.
Smart people are also open-minded, that is, they are adaptable and know how to listen to different opinions, being able to look at things more broadly and adjust your thoughts as you receive new knowledge. In parallel with listening, they are empathetic people who are highly sensitive to other people's experiences. With this, they also manage to have flexibility to adapt to different situations.
This does not mean that to be smart you need to have all these characteristics, but they do apply to a certain type of intelligence, and with these characteristics, it is easier to be sociable and manage to be in different environments.
