You gifted represent a small percentage of the world's population, with a Intelligence quotient (IQ) far above average. So, the message, a British organization founded in 1946, has a representative in Brazil who works to identify these individuals.

What does it mean to be gifted?
Being a gifted person means having a high mental capacity, that is, being above average in relation to other people. A giftedness it is linked to superior cognitive performance, which can be seen both at the school level and in other activities such as sports and art.
This, in fact, is a skill that cannot be taught or practiced. A person who is gifted usually has a high level of leadership ability in addition to intellectual abilities. In most cases, they excel in a specific area.
How is the process to identify the gifted?
The IQ tests are standard and, specifically for this round, are intended for anyone over the age of 17, just needing to be enrolled or have completed higher education.
Rodrigo Sauaia, president of Mensa, says that the tests can be done in groups (maximum of ten people), as they usually do, but that preferably they should be done individually and under the supervision of a psychologist on site.
The tests used are of the type "culture fair” (as it is called in English), which are independent of the candidate's native language and specific knowledge. To prevent candidates from interrupting the process, Mensa does not reveal detailed information about the tests.
The average of the Brazilian population
In March, the last round of tests took place and 19 super-intelligent Brazilians were discovered! Thus, at 10 am on May 28, the organization will hold another round in the following locations:
- Brasilia DF),
- Rio de Janeiro - RJ),
- Sao Jose dos Campos (SP),
- Salvador BA),
- Porto Alegre (RS),
- Campinas, sp),
- Sao Paulo-SP),
- Bethlehem (PA),
- Belo Horizonte (MG) and
- Ribeirão Preto (SP).
The Brazilian population, on average, has an IQ of 100 points, with a variation of 15 points (85 to 115). However, according to Sauaia, the gifted have an index well above these values. To meet the Mensa Brasil admission requirement, you need at least 131 points.
