O Sao Paulo's State Government disclosed that it will make use of a new system that can automatically calculate the IPVA value for drivers. Four or five equal and sequential installments will be allowed. The minimum per installment was estimated at R$ 68.52, as indicated by the government.
The calculations for the IPVA tax rate are the same used in 2020: minibuses, buses, heavy machinery will be 2%; trucks, 1.5%; 2% for motorcycles, 4% for passenger cars and 1% for rental cars.
It is important to remember that late payment generates a daily fine of 0.33% plus interest based on the calculation of the Selic rate. With 2 months of delay, the fine will be 20% of the amount of tax due.
IPVA payment schedule for the State of São Paulo
In the State of São Paulo, of the 27 million vehicles, only 17.9 million will be part of the IPVA 2023 payment.
For cash payments
- Single quota, in the month of January: 3% discount on the total amount;
- Single quota, in the month of February: no discount on the total amount.
Installments
- In 3 installments, from January to March: IPVA between R$ 205.56 and R$ 274.07;
- In 4 installments, from January to April: IPVA between R$274.08 and R$342.5;
- In 5 installments, from January to May: IPVA worth more than R$ 342.60.
