understand the study

The study published on the website IFL Science it was a true task force with the aim of understanding how betrayal occurs in men and women. In all, 1,500 volunteers were recruited, all heterosexual men and women, in order to recognize a pattern of behavior between genders.

Soon afterwards, the volunteers received images of more than 180 individuals, 101 men and 88 women. These images corresponded to people who may or may not have been unfaithful within their relationship at some point. moment in their lives, and it would be up to the volunteers to analyze the probabilities of infidelity for the individuals.

It is, therefore, an analysis of stereotypes, since it was necessary to establish a profile of an infidel. Thus, the analyzed individuals were to be categorized as someone who appears or does not appear to be a traitor, and the results were impressive!

Women hide cheating better

At the end of the research, it was possible to see how difficult it is to establish a physical pattern of someone who is unfaithful, since few traitors have actually been identified. Despite this, the gender factor was very prominent in the analysis, since it was possible to recognize more unfaithful men than unfaithful women.

As a percentage, only 4% of unfaithful women were discovered by volunteers through their facial expressions. In the case of men, the percentage of identifications was 18%, that is, a number greater than four times the total number of women identified.

From these data, the researchers point out that women are able to show themselves to be more neutral to the identification of others. This is the same as saying that they can more easily hide what they think, are and do, especially when it comes to infidelity.
