Rock found on Mars holds ancient secrets

The Perseverance space rover, which is collecting material for study on Mars, may have found a treasure trove for researchers to study here on Mars. Earth. According to the NASA, some time ago, Perseverance had already left a sandstone sample that could bring some information about the humid environment in which it was formed. In this way, the rover will deposit a total of 10 titanium tubes with rock and soil samples from Mars over the next two months.

These samples will be located in what they call the "three forks", which marks the first construction of this type of sample repository on another planet. This deposit will serve as a security measure in case Perseverance is unable to deliver the samples for the rescue, thus, two helicopters for sample recovery will be sent to the determined place, thus finalizing the work.

NASA said the rover has collected a total of 17 samples so far over the two-year mission to Mars. Now, it remains to wait to find out what secrets these rocks were keeping.
