Last Wednesday, the 9th, Aneel announced that there would be an increase in the price of energy bill for consumers in some regions of the country. In this case, the increase will reflect the expansion of investment in new power generators. However, while some regions will pay more, others will discount proportionately.

Transfer in the value of investments
In the coming months, it is expected that generator tariffs will remain stable, which is a measure already provided for in the Legislative Decree Project (PDL). According to Aneel's announcement, the end of the stabilization of tasks comes precisely to ensure greater balance in payment in accordance with the expansion of networks.
In addition, Aneel also highlighted in the note that currently the risk of oscillation in transmission costs is fully passed on to consumers. Not to mention other investments that the Agency has recently made, such as the BRL 50 billion contracted in the last transmission auctions that should only be passed on to the population in 2023.
Which regions will have higher rates?
Finally, it is worth explaining that the increase in tariffs will be proportional to the electricity consumption of each region. Therefore, in some places in the country the electricity bill will be more expensive, while in others there will be discounts in the coming months.
To organize these transfers, Aneel developed a new methodology for calculating the Tariffs for the Use of the Transmission (Tust) and Tariffs for Use of the Distribution System for both generators connected at 88 kV and 138 kV (TUSD-g). In this way, places with greater energy overload will pay more.
Therefore, an increase of 0.5% is expected for consumers in the Southeast and 1.5% for consumers in the South. These increases also represent the distance from the power generation zones. On the other hand, a reduction of 0.8% is expected in the energy bills of consumers in the North and of 2.4% in the bills of consumers in the Northeast.
