Snake of more than 2 meters lives with family: 'we are used to it'

In some situations, sharing the house with relatives can be a bit delicate. Imagine, then, sharing your home with a snake over 2 meters long?

This is the reality of a family from Santa Catarina, in the city of Pomerode. In an interview with the ND+ portal, Lúcio de Bem, one of the residents of the residence, said that he has been paying family visits for about 20 years.

“We are used to it. In the summer it roams peacefully and in the winter it hibernates,” said the man.

A video that runs on social networks shows the visitor “walking” peacefully on the roof of the house. She seems not to mind the presence of humans. And neither did they with hers.

The family “friend” serpent is a canine. It is not common to see animals of this species so calm around humans.

On the contrary, it is popular knowledge that canines are more aggressive snakes. In addition, there is a belief that this is a serpent that “runs after” people.

Despite being very “heated”, the canine is not venomous. But, make no mistake, that doesn't stop it from being dangerous. Your bite, in addition to hurting, can also lead to infections at the incision site.

Where is the canine found?

It is snake It can be found throughout the Brazilian territory, but it is less seen in the southern regions of the country. Easily recognized by their yellow and black scales, these snakes are diurnal and prefer to stay in places with wider vegetation.

The most common is to see them on tree trunks and similarly high places. After all, it is in places like this where their favorite prey lives: birds, nestling birds and, in some cases, rodents.

They usually reach up to 2.5 meters and, because they are thinner, they are very agile to catch their prey.
