The importance of paying the fee monthly is to ensure access to social security benefits: sickness allowance, old-age pension, maternity allowance, death pension and invalidity. The formalization of self-employment through the MEI grants this right to the aforementioned resources.
The social security contribution of the self-employed will be at least BRL 66 per month from 2023. For micro-entrepreneurs in industry and commerce, the increase will be one real referring to the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS). For truck drivers, the installment may increase to R$ 158.40 monthly or 12% of the minimum wage. For service providers, the amount will be R$ 5.
For MEI Caminhoneiro, the value will be from R$ 159.40 to R$ 164.40. For the Individual MEI, the installment will be between R$ 67 and R$ 72. This will totally depend on the category. The amount must be paid on the 20th of each month.

Other anticipated changes
