The right to special retirement may not be within the scope of knowledge of many workers. This modality is aimed at those who perform a function that puts the life, physical and mental health of workers at risk. Different professions grant this right, but now two others have entered the category.

Through a decision taken by the Federal Senate, traffic agents and municipal guards will also be entitled to the benefit. The proposal arose from an idea by Senator Paulo Paim (PT), who explained in the text that the professions in question work directly with the safety of Brazilians.

Both expose professionals to dangers, as they are directly at risk on the streets. This means, then, that these two professions will receive support from the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), if they wish to retire using this modality.

Who has the right?

Men and women who work in a situation that puts their physical or mental health at risk may retire in the special modality. Women with 25 years of contributions to the INSS and 15 years in risky activity will be able to retire in this way. For men, it is necessary to have contributed for at least 30 years and have at least 20 years of risky activity to get it.

To apply for special retirement, it will be necessary to present documentation that can prove the right to access the modality. For this, you will also need a report from a safety engineering professional or occupational physician.
