The Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) has changed since April last year, but not everyone knows what the changes were. Among them, we can mention the new CNH point limit (National driving license). However, only the most disciplined have that right. Remembering that the sum of the points may imply the suspension of the right to drive.

Therefore, in 2022, it was established that the new limit of points that can lead to the suspension of the CNH goes from 20 to 40. But it is worth noting that there are caveats, that is, based on the incidence of very serious fines committed in the period of 12 months. Follow the reading.
New CNH scoring scheme
First, the CTB made changes to the fine scoring scheme for CNH. As such, the new rules require driver attention, as the news could lead to suspension of your license for a year and retraining of drivers to be able to withdraw the document again. Drivers caught driving a vehicle with a suspended license will have to pay a fine of approximately R$900.00 and, in addition to having the license suspended for another two years, the vehicle will remain impounded until the arrival of another person enabled.
Before the changes took effect, a driver had his license suspended if he accumulated a total of 20 points over a period of one year (12 months). The suspension is now unfolding in a staggered manner, as follows:
- 40 points: If among the infractions there is not one considered very serious;
- 30 points: If you have a very serious infraction in the score;
- 20 points: If you have two or more very serious infractions.
Driver of paid activity
An important observation to be made is that, regardless of the seriousness of the offense, the suspension only occurs in the case of drivers who practice paid activities (taxi drivers and app-related drivers), when they reach the fixed number of 40 points.
Step by step to consult the CNH score
For Brazilians to be able to consult the CNH score, everything is very simple and free. For that, you just:
- Have your National Traffic Card in hand;
- Enter the website of the State Department of Transit (in your region);
- Fill in, on the CNH score query page, the data that is being requested.
In addition, it is possible to carry out this consultation in the Digital Traffic Card application, where it is possible to have access to the CNH Digital. So, in the application, just follow the steps below:
- If not, register;
- Open the application and click on the “infractions” option;
- Finally, choose the option “by violator”. That's it, this will show the information.
