Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Beijing

Infected numbers have risen dramatically in China, so now the country is facing a supply crunch in Beijing. The city has seen a sharp increase in cases in recent weeks. News reports say 22,000 patients have complained of fever, so essential medical items are running low.

Young Amy Liu, who fell ill last Sunday, commented on what she had to face.

“It's pretty ridiculous. She can't find thermometers for people on delivery apps. The only one I could find was geared towards veterinary work.”

Liu even pointed out that she had to pay 87 yuan, about $12.50, to buy the thermometer. She also commented that there is a great difficulty in finding medications that are for the treatment of the virus.

The situation will get even worse if left unchecked. In the long run, everything can be much more harmful.

Public anxiety caused uproar

The amount of new cases caused anxiety and panic almost widespread among people. The high demand for medicines led to a lack of supplies for everyone.

“Last week, pharmacies were almost out of stock.medicineswesterners”, Liu pointed out and added: “it was equally difficult to buy medicine online. You can hardly find Covid-related drugs in online stores, and delivery now takes much longer than before.”

The Chinese government is mapping this issue and has sought to recover the stock it previously had. At least that's what Wgang Houting, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Medical Products, has pointed out.

Replacement of drugs for the treatment of Covid-19

The government managed to get some drugs back on the shelves, however Liu said he still there was no replacement of those antipyretics that serve to lower the high temperature caused by fever.

In addition to her, another Beijing resident, Zhou Chenming, said that people simply panicked when they saw cases of Covid-19 rising across China.

“Experts say the virus is more harmful to people with basic illnesses, so people are stocking up on various drugs,” he pointed out. “This is why not only Covid-related drugs were out of stock last week.”
