The fever of artificial intelligence is already reaching all corners of the world and becoming present in different areas of our lives. To rival the famous ChatGPT, MOSS was developed in China. The debut of the new Chinese AI did not go as expected due to technical problems that prevented the first public test of the technology from being a success. During launch, the system went offline and had to be stopped.

The new technology was developed by technicians at Fudan University in China. It works as a conversational chat, just like ChatGPT, Bard (Google) and Bing Chat (Microsoft) and has similar tools.
It was mainly developed to compete with the various artificial intelligences that are already on the market, with applications in different areas, such as translation, conversations and texts.
crash during launch
The launch was scheduled for February, but failed due to excessive hits.
In a statement, Fudan University said it had not prepared for the amount of searches MOSS would have, which was online for 12 hours but dropped due to demand. In view of this, the university decided to prevent access.
Language
At the premiere, some selected users were given access to the system to test, but another part entered the waiting list. The platform was created in English and in Mandarin, with over 300 billion English words already built into the system. Now, the idea is to expand the vocabulary of Chinese, which has only 30 billion words, despite being its largest audience.
To directly rival other intelligences such as ChatGPT and Bard, the university had to target its system in the English language. As it is still in development, MOSS has fewer features than other more established technologies.
That's what explains Qiu Xipeng, a professor in charge of the project. He points out that the new updates should come with speech, drawing, data analysis and teaching tools.
