LinkedIn believes it has the solution for its social networks: Eliminate political content

LinkedIn is a social network for professional use, famous among job seekers and employers alike. However, in addition to allowing the exchange of messages between these two groups, it also enables debates and the exhibition of CVs. In addition, the platform has 500 million users worldwide and has become the largest business-oriented application. A novelty came to light recently informing that the LinkedIn will remove political content from its networks.

Button that will block all political content

The new function will be available for use whenever the user wants, and he will be able to access it through the “Settings and privacy” of the application. To do so, simply click on “Do you want to see political content in your feed?” This function is already being tested in the United States.

Ryan Rolansky, CEO of the social network, explained that he decided to create this tool to eliminate political content after many complaints from users. He believes that this button is a solution for debates and that content should be “monitored” by the platform.

LinkedIn already had some functions responsible for hiding some content, but this new tool seems to be more sophisticated than the previous ones.

message management

Social networks have been forced to be more active in controlling messages on their platforms, managing not only what constitutes a crime, but anything that incites hatred, misinformation and extreme ideologies, including political issues. Yet it is difficult to regulate this content because of the amount of misinformation that continues to circulate.

Therefore, LinkedIn managers believe that this is a way to alleviate problems without losing access. This is because most users enter the network out of professional interest, not to learn or discuss politics, and this would optimize the platform's functioning.
