As of next Saturday (24th), Copel customers will face an average increase of 10.5% in electric bills. The company officially announced the readjustment, which was approved by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel).
Copel explained that the main factors that contributed to this increase were the costs with transport, sectoral charges and the withdrawal of financial components established in the last process tariff.

The readjustment in electricity bills is calculated based on the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which recorded an accumulated 3.94% in the last 12 months.
As informed by the electricity supply company, the readjustment in Copel's electricity bills varies according to the type of connection. For high voltage connections, the increase was 8.31%.
For other consumers, such as residential customers, public lighting, public buildings and residents of rural areas, the readjustment in bills was greater, reaching 11.73%.

The increase in the light bill of Paraná in 2023 marks the second consecutive increase. The decision by the Minister of the STF, Edson Fachin, at the end of February, authorized the reintroduction of the collection of the State Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) in the transmission of electricity.

This is the implementation with the highest annual adjustment since 2018, with an average increase of 10.5% in electricity bills. In previous years, the readjustments varied, with an average rate of increase of 15.99% in 2018, 3.41% in 2019 and 0.41% in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic.
In the 2021 periodic tariff review, there was an average increase of 9.89%, and last year, the average increase in bills was 4.90% due to the annual readjustment.
