Tips for setting up a colorful living room in a harmonious way
Do you know the chromatic circle? It's good to understand a little about how it works when choosing tones to color your room, as there are colors that combine better with each other. For example, analogous colors (which are close on the chromatic circle) and complementary colors (which are on opposite sides). We will explain further below!
Vibrant colors convey joy and energy
Vibrant colors, such as orange, yellow, red and their variations, are intense and convey the impression of joy and energy. Therefore, they are great options for coloring your living room. That said, it's important to know how to combine them to make the environment balanced and elegant.
Combine vibrant colors with neutral tones
Neutral tones are white, black and different shades of gray. You must combine them with vibrant colors to maintain balance and not overdo the amount of colors in your room. For example, you can paint only one wall red or yellow and leave the rest white.
Another alternative is to paint the walls in shades of gray and invest in furniture in vibrant colors, such as rugs and colored lamps. The same goes for tables, sofa covers, among others.
Invest in complementary colors
Another super important tip is to combine complementary colors. Basically it's the tones that are on opposite sides of the chromatic circle. You can see that they match super well! For example, orange with blue, yellow with purple, and red with green.
You can buy a blue sofa and place several pillows with different shades of orange and it will be a wonderful combination! Another super chic option is to paint a wall lilac and place yellow chairs or niches in front of it. There are endless possibilities!
Similar colors for furniture and walls
Finally, another tip to make the environment more colorful, harmonic and elegant is the use of similar colors. Examples of these combinations are orange with pink, purple with red and green with yellow.
Basically, you can do what we mentioned earlier, combine a neutral-colored wall with furniture in similar colors, such as a white wall with a purple sofa and a red frame, or a pink wall with orange chairs nearby, for example. Use your creativity and put your personality!
