The seriousness of the problem can be noticed when we realize the great movement in the labor market where the remote model is constantly being adopted. That is, people are becoming more and more likely to spend most of their day sitting.
Study aimed to help people who spend a lot of time sitting
Physiologist Keith Diaz conducted a study that found the best way to combat the health risks that plague patients who are in the habit of sitting for most of the day. In it, a group of 11 healthy adults, in a laboratory, carried out their work routine for 8 hours over a period of 5 different days. However, in a working day, the condition of the participants to remain seated during the 8 hours was proposed.
In order to fix people's posture, the researchers used different strategies to find the most effective one. First, a 1 minute walk every half hour, and on another day 5 minutes walk after 1 hour. That is, the study sought to solve the problem by seeking the shortest walk possible.
During the process, it was necessary to measure the sugar level and blood pressure, so that the effects could be further clarified. Finally, the result obtained said that the 5-minute walk, practiced lightly every half hour, was the best strategy. Incidentally, it is the only one where blood sugar levels have been reduced.
In addition, the study proved that walking for 5 minutes every half hour causes the blood sugar spike to be reduced after a meal by up to 60%.
