Drivers complain about raising prices before Petrobras announced

Drivers complain about abusive prices in Mogi das Cruzes before the day announced by Petrobras

The increase in gasoline was announced for Friday (11), but in Mogi das Cruzes, many gas stations were already increasing the value on Thursday, ahead of the time announced by Petrobras.

“I saw in the report earlier today that the price of fuel would increase from Friday. I stopped by the gas station and when I saw it, the price increased: it went to R$6.49. I told him to cancel, I filed a complaint with the Procon, but the gas station's CNPJ is not in the Procon register.”, reported Claudiceia Gomes Martins from the César de Souza District.

More drivers noticed the increase at the same post in the region, and a citizen even recorded the values. When confronted, a gas station attendant reported that Petrobras had already made the announcement, justifying the increase in value.

On the other side of the city it was no different, there were reports of drivers in Alto do Ipiranga complaining about the undue price: “I got there and the price was already changed. Also, the plates where the titles should have been were blank. This is an infraction.”, said Armando Campos.

The same thing happened to Fernanda Santos in Mogi Moderno: “This morning I stopped by the gas station before going to work and the sign was like a month ago, that regular gasoline was R$ 6.17. With the news that there would be a readjustment starting tomorrow, I went to finish filling the tank on leaving the service and the station was already without price identification. On a sign, which is below the suggestions, the new price of R$ 6.77 was already displayed. I questioned the guy and he said it had increased a little because tomorrow the price of fuel would be over R$7. The station was crowded, with a lot of people filling up and everyone with the same problem.”

And it wasn't just gasoline that had increases, another driver in Braz Cubas complains about the increase in alcohol: “Simply all stations have already changed the value and are increasing alcohol too. Alcohol, in the morning, was R$4.29 and gasoline was R$6.29. Then it has already gone up, unfortunately, before the right increase, they already pass on the value and say that it has already arrived with the new value.”

And in an attempt to fill up at a lower price, queues were created in front of gas stations throughout the city. It is estimated that in Mogi the price of gasoline will rise by R$ 0.44, reaching an average value of R$ 6.74.

The National Petroleum Agency forbids all stations to maintain the same value without giving the customer a choice, practices cartel calls, but does not supervise the increase in values.

Anyone who feels aggrieved can seek Procon with evidence of abusive charges. The telephone number for Procon de Mogi is 4798-5010.
