Transfer of vehicles through apps
Called Authorization for the Transfer of Ownership of the Vehicle (ATPV-e), the resource is presented as insurance, as it uses the validation technology made by Gov.br from the Carteira Digital de Trânsito (CDT) application, available for iOS and Android. The technology was developed for the National Traffic Department by Serpro.
Step by step to carry out the transfer through the app
According to the Detran, the process is quite simple and interactive, and thus makes life much easier for citizens. So, check out how the transaction works below:
- First, the seller needs to access the CDT application, inform the buyer's CPF and perform the digital signature;
- Then the buyer receives the notification and needs to repeat the same process.
It is important to emphasize that, in addition, sellers and buyers must have a qualified login on Gov.br to carry out the transaction digitally. Furthermore, the Detran in which the vehicle is registered must, in turn, have adhered to this new digital authorization system.
What about “pre-2021” vehicles?
According to the resolution of the National Traffic Council (Contran), the digital version of the old DUT (transfer document) will still have the same validity as the original form, with the physical signature.
Still regarding this version, for vehicles dated before January 2021, the agency reported that “all CRVs (the ownership of the vehicle) issued in cash remain valid and must be kept for use in a future transfer of property".
Therefore, in these cases, the bureaucracy of having to go to a notary to sign the document with the buyer, unfortunately, remains active.
States that have already authorized the use of car transfer by app
Each state in the country is responsible for adopting and enforcing traffic rules, so not all states have adhered to the novelty yet. In this way, it is currently possible to carry out the transfer digitally in nine states, namely:
- Ceará;
- Acre;
- Rio de Janeiro;
- Mato Grosso do Sul;
- Roraima;
- Pernambuco;
- Paraná;
- Large northern river;
- Rio Grande do Sul.
