PL 2564/2020 was approved by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate in May, but the president signed it on Wednesday, August 4, the deadline for the sanction. The delay occurred because the parliamentarians had not suggested in the document the source of funds for the readjustment.
The problem was solved by Senator Eliziane Gama (Cidadania-MA) with PEC nº 11/2022. The pre-candidate for state deputy (PV), president of Coren de Pernambuco, Gilmar Júnior, who is also a nurse, points out about the situation:
“The PL sanction is an old fight for the appreciation of our category. For a long time, we had what I call the 'Nursing for love' armor. Due to our situation, we were coerced and even allowed the exploitation of our work to happen. Over time and based on a lot of struggle, the category became convinced that love does not fill the plate that kills hunger. Love pays no bills. It's money that drives the economy."
The salary floor in force now also includes nursing technicians and assistants, nurses and midwives. Check below the value for each function:
- Nursing Technician: BRL 3,325.00
- Nurse: BRL 4,750.00
- Nursing Assistant: BRL 2,375.00
- Midwife: BRL 2,375.00
