How to identify burnout?
Although already briefly explained above, it is still important to know how burnout presents itself in one's life. Also known as Professional Burnout Syndrome, this condition is a reality for people who continuously present the following behaviors:
- Very tired, both physical and mental;
- Frequent headaches;
- Changes in appetite (eating more or less; varies) and some level of insomnia;
- Fragile concentration;
- Feeling of failure, defeat and even hopelessness;
- Negativity and insecurity surfaced.
What would be moral exhaustion?
This new type of tiredness would be linked to the person's moral values, accentuating when they are disrespected in their work environment; however, given that this is a recent study, we still don't have a lot of material.
According to psychologist Bruna Capozzi from the Meraki Institute, moral exhaustion occurs when an individual is exposed to certain situations who are at odds with their beliefs and values at work, generating great dissatisfaction and, consequently, a deep tiredness.
Signs that you are experiencing a moral breakdown
This new condition that is being studied points out some symptoms that are already able to help in the diagnosis of this exhaustion. So, here are the signs you should be on the lookout for:
- Feel ashamed for some situation that happened at work;
- You have more tiredness that leads you to procrastinate your goals;
- Is anxious and fearful throughout the day in the work environment;
- Has difficulty relaxing;
- Not feeling part of the team;
- You are exhausted in every way (emotionally, mentally and physically).
Consequences of the syndrome in humans
People often give up their jobs and resign because they can no longer bear the environment in which they live on a daily basis. In this situation, it is important to assess the influence that the resignation will have in your life and career before making any decision. Therefore, psychological assistance should be sought.
