In the year 2022, Samsung was nominated as the biggest mobile phone brand in the world. A apple even tried to overcome the historic success of the iPhone 14, but did not reach the goal and was in second place. The list was based on the number of cell phones delivered to stores.
Last year was a challenge for the smartphone industry, mainly because shipments dropped by 11% and in the fourth quarter there was a deficit of more than 17%. Brands like Apple and Xiaomi suffered a lot, after all, Apple factories were paralyzed for a while and there were supply problems. Xiaomi suffered major problems with the increase in taxes in the Indian country.
The list of the top 5 brands:
- Samsung – The Chinese brand is an electronics multinational and has sales networks in 74 countries. Its biggest investors are foreigners and in 2022 it launched 23 smartphones;
- Apple – The North American giant is also an electronics multinational that has its own software and several hardware options, such as Macintosh, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and the Apple Watch;
- Xiaomi – The Chinese multinational company is headquartered in Beijing and invests in hardware products such as smartphones, notebooks, smartbands, headphones, televisions, devices for smart homes, between others;
- Oppo – The Chinese brand started developing smartphones in 2011 and in 2013 it already launched its own operating system which uses Android as a base;
- Alive - Vivo is also a Chinese company, which was founded in 2009 and has rapidly expanded in the Asian continent.
China commands the smartphone market in the world, with 3 of the 5 brands on the list. The market launched 1.2 billion units of devices, although Samsung remains as the one that stayed with 3 percentage points ahead of Apple. It does not mean that it is ahead of Apple when it comes to profitability and market value, since Apple wins in these two areas.
