Find out what has changed with the new passport model

While the previous version portrayed only one illustration of the fauna and flora of the main Brazilian biomes, the new document will have 13 illustrations. There will also be six compositions of fluorescent invisibility cloaks. Previously, only the page number changed when exposed to UV light.

A small change was also made to the main page that contains the individual's data and photo. In this sense, there is now a ghost image of the citizen portrayed in black and white, as well as an image with the passport owner's biometric data.

Stronger security features in the new passport

At the time of its release, Anderson Torres, Minister of Justice and Public Security, stated that the federal police had conceptualized the document's new security items.

According to him, “the new security items were developed by the Federal Immigration Police and federal prosecutors for criminal cases. Consideration was given to what the world has to offer in terms of anti-fraud technology.” In addition, he highlighted that the change had no financial consequences.

The minister also commented that “changing the passport has no financial impact because the issuing procedures remain the same and the value of the document does not change. […] Also noteworthy is the expiration date, which is equivalent to ten years.”

As reported, the amount charged for issuing the document remains the same, R$ 247.25. Another change is that, starting in September, the production of the new passport will be under the control of the Mint.
