WhatsApp will no longer work on about 40 cell phone models

As of May 31 (which is just around the corner), around 40 smartphone models will no longer be compatible with the messaging app. WhatsApp will stop working on these gadgets same as the user updates the operational system of the device.

List of devices that will no longer support WhatsApp

All devices running Android 4.1 and older or running iOS 10 and/or older will stop running the app. Check out the full list now:

  • Samsung: Samsung Galaxy Trend Lite, Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, Samsung Galaxy Trend II, Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2, Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Samsung Galaxy Core.

Be careful not to lose WhatsApp chat data

If your device is on the list where the app will no longer work, be careful not to lose your data. In this sense, you can backup chats to iCloud, iOS or Google Cloud if you use Android.

You can restore messages and media later when setting up WhatsApp on a new device, so don't worry, but back it up first so you don't forget!
