For the thousands of people who already have these apps, according to the company, they were disguised as fitness or gaming apps. However, in reality, they tricked users into clicking on dubious website links.

The cyber company Dr. Web was responsible for finding these apps:

  • Golden Hunt – 100,000 downloads;
  • Reflector – 100 thousand downloads;
  • Seven Golden Wolf blackjack – 100,000 downloads;
  • Unlimited Score – 50,000 downloads;

Fitness apps, for example, offered rewards to users for staying active. Activities such as walking could generate points and later be exchanged for prizes.

However, when people went to claim the prizes, they were prevented from doing so and were also forced to see advertisements without anything in return.

The Lucky Step app has been downloaded ten million times and the Walkingloy and Lucky Habit apps five million times. All of them related to health and walking.

Another ten apps were also removed from the platform. The rest were not related to physical activities, they were related to investment in software, directories, quizzes and addictive games.
