A piracy it is a crime in most countries of the world and therefore, operators of illicit services are always condemned. This is what happened with the IPTV television service, which was operated by SetTV. New fine for IPTV

The first fine came in 2018, when DISH Tv filed the lawsuit precisely because of piracy. At the time, the court defined the amount of US$ 90 million that SetTv should pay as compensation. However, instead of making the payment, those responsible for IPTV did not comply with the order.

To get rid of the conviction, the operators decided to appeal the initial fine decision through court proceedings. But what was the surprise when, once again, the conviction took place in this new 2022 process. Now, the fine has accumulated and the updated amount is over $130 million.

In the case, the new process was opened in a joint action, which came from Sling TV and NagraStar in a court in the state of Florida, in the United States. The new process even brought new information, that Jason LaBossiere, Sean Beaman and Stefan Gollner, operators of the former SetTv were back in business.

new pirate business

According to the accusers, the same ones who suffered the condemnation and had the content off the air, got involved with piracy again. According to the indictment, the defendants were now responsible for the subscription platform Expedite TV, Mundo TV and also Must TV. Thus, the court determined the new claim for damages in accordance with the US Federal Communications Act. As we have already mentioned, the result was yet another loss and the accumulation of debt. This time the convicts have already agreed to pay the compensation without recourse.
