On a rainy night in São Paulo, at Pacaembu, there was a match between Santos and Bangu for the Roberto Gomes Pedrosa Trophy. He asked the help of family members in Barão de Cocais, the city where his parents live, to look for the shirt in the house where his mother, Nilza Dias Alves, still lives.
They considered different options to make Pelé's shirt available, Lincão and his family decided to go down the auction route.
Instead of selling it directly to a collector, they opted to rely on the expertise of Leilão do Esporte, a company specializing in sporting goods that conducts online auctions. To facilitate the process, the family also partnered with the digital platform Mercado Bom Valor.
Now, those interested in purchasing this historic piece can participate in the auction via the internet, with initial bids starting at R$90,000.
