Important tips to keep your cell phone safe

1. Use two-step verification

It's very important to enable two-step verification for all services that offer it. This way, you reduce the chances of someone accessing your account, as it will require confirmation through an app or code sent to your mobile number. This is a very simple and efficient measure.

2. Avoid installing apps from outside your device's official store

Avoid downloading applications that are not available on the Google Play Store, if you have an Android device, or on the Apple Store, if you are an iPhone user. This is important because these official stores have greater control over the apps available and the risk of your phone being infected with viruses is lower, although not zero.

3. Beware of public Wi-Fi networks

Public Wi-Fi networks are generally insecure. As such, there is always the possibility that someone is keeping an eye on the data traffic in transit. For this reason, it is not recommended to have confidential content conversations or exchange sensitive data on these networks. If so, it's best to disable Wi-Fi and opt for the mobile data network.

4. Never tap suspicious links

Never click on suspicious links that have been sent via emails, SMS messages or WhatsApp that you do not know the source. Likewise, avoid sites that appear too suspicious, such as those offering unmissable offers or services.

5. Update the operating system frequently

Operating system updates are no accident. In addition to correcting possible bugs and promoting system improvements, these updates also help protect the device.

With the explosion of viruses, malware and ransomware, companies are constantly improving the source code of their devices, in order to avoid possible gaps that facilitate the action of people possibly malicious.
