3 lessons to seek self-knowledge and succeed in life

We define here that being successful in life means: having emotional intelligence to face challenges, knowing how to live life with more lightness, having peace and the ability to see beauty in detail, knowing how to correct yourself when necessary and, of course, remaining willing to face the new. So check out the lessons below.

With emotional intelligence, you have control over your body

Of course, there are situations in which the brain sends involuntary responses, so that you can perform basic functions without having to think about them – like breathing or heartbeat, for example. But that's not what we're talking about.

In fact, emotional intelligence, when conquered, teaches us that it is possible to send signals to the our nervous system so that a warning sign or anxiety and despair is controlled more quickly. For this, it is necessary to exercise patience, breathing techniques for anxiety, among others, to use the physiological system in our favor.

Have beliefs yes, but under the right lens

Limiting beliefs are often created in childhood and sustained throughout life. It means having imposing thoughts like "it won't work", "it's too late" or "this is impossible". The truth is that, almost always, these phrases are uttered and do not come close to reality – they they are just a conclusion of an automatic and distorted thought that makes you lose faith in yourself.

For this reason, when you decide to try something new, instead of automatically finding yourself incapable, always think about the 3 lenses. They are: the collaborative lens, which is to strive for everyone to win together, not just focus on your victory or defeat; the lens of possibility, i.e. temporarily letting go of fear and obstacles and just getting started; and the opportunity lens, that is, looking for an opportunity when something goes wrong, rather than just fretting.

It is important to exercise constant healthy self-assessment

Generally, people oscillate between two states: total lack of self-evaluation, characterized by people selfish or with narcissistic traits, or toxic self-criticism, in absurd degrees of demand and none self-pity. Therefore, psychoanalysts stress the importance of not being part of any of these extreme groups.

In fact, it is important to evaluate and understand yourself. Always ask yourself: why am I angry? Why am I distressed? How can I better reflect on this issue before going public in a time of upset? Questions like this make the experience of self-knowledge much deeper and more inclusive.
