Netflix shocks the industry with record subscription cancellations

In the first three months of 2023, streaming platforms have already accounted for subscription losses and gains. In Brazil, the Netflix it was the film and series platform that led the account cancellation list, while HBO Max was in last place.

The percentages are from the Hibou company report that monitors streaming platforms in the market. The document has the opinion of 1400 people, in all regions of the country, to talk about the signature. Netflix leads cancellations of subscriptions, but is still favorite

For Lígia Melo, partner and research coordinator at Hibou, users evaluate criteria other than the catalog offered. For 42% of respondents, the important thing is the ease of navigating the platform, prioritizing personalized communication.

Despite leading the cancellation, Netflix also took first place as the favorite of the interviewed public:

  2. Amazon Prime Video – 54%;
  3. Disney+ – 33%;
  4. Globoplay – 31%;
  5. HBO Max – 29%.

The majority of those interviewed, with a 74% advantage, stated that they keep their subscription due to number of movies and series, another 66% said they prefer the platform with the lowest value.
