A study was commissioned by the Federal Government to defend a reformulation of current norms, which guarantee some rights to workers.

The project has proposals with about 330 changes in the labor scope, where 180 rules were amendment, 110 added and 40 revoked, and among the changes is the provision of service to Sundays.

Currently, the worker is entitled to a day off every three Sundays worked, and the suggestion is to change it to just one day off every seven weeks.
Thus, if the measure is accepted by the National Congress, the worker will no longer have a free Sunday and the provision of services on that day will occur without paying an extra amount.

Work on Sundays already happens normally, but it involves an agreement between the contractor and the contractor, and with the suggested modification, this negotiation disappears.

The Government's justification for the change is due to the high unemployment rate in Brazil. Because with this change, the bureaucracy to hire people who work on Sundays would be smaller.

However, the project still does not have a specific date to be completed and formally presented to the Chamber.

Other amendments to the labor reform

The document still has many other controversial points. For example, the desire to change the employment relationship between app drivers and companies. Those who work in this branch are considered autonomous, a group that belongs to the CLT system. So, with the change, the activity will be relocated to the Commercial Code, causing a distance between the driver and the company.

Another questionable topic is that workers who suffer accidents at work even with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be responsible for the event itself. Because they received training and the event was supposed not to happen.

In addition, women who are close to dismissal will take a pregnancy test, however, this issue is still the subject of much debate.

So, now that you know a little more about the fact that the new labor reform can change work on Sundays. Forward this article to that friend of yours who would also like to know.
