The environmental preservation fee was created by the city hall itself, in order to control the damage caused by the high visitation in these places. The basic rate will be R$13, per period, for visitors who visit the beaches for more than 4 hours. The charges will happen at any time of the day, from Sunday to Sunday, even at night.
The secretary of the Environment, Guilherme Adolpho, informed that the resources will be useful to maintain the
infrastructure of the site and for the preservation of the environment during the period of high flow.“In this way, it will be possible to offset the socio-environmental impacts generated by tourism and keep the city clean and well-kept for everyone,” he said.
Fee collection in Ubatuba: how will it be done?
The city hall informs that the collection will be through the same system as “Sem Parar” used in tolls, that is, an electronic collection. A device will be attached to the windshield of the car so that the site visitor can make the payment online. For those who want to schedule themselves, the daily rates to stay on site can be purchased in advance.
If the rules are not complied with, the visitor will be billed at their home address.
The company Eco Ubatuba will be responsible for the flow of the system and carried out tests in November 2022 to start operating this month. The preservation fee was approved by law in 2018 and only in 2022 were the values updated. Small cars will pay R$13, motorcycles R$3.50, minibuses and trucks will pay R$59 and buses R$92.
exemptions
Evidently, cars registered with the name of the city will not be charged, as well as cars from São Sebastião, Ilhabela, Cunha, São Luiz do Paraitinga, Natividade da Serra, Paraty (RJ) and Caraguatatuba will be exempt from charge. Residents of Ubatuba, with license plates from another city, may apply for exemption through registration.
