How to make plant seedlings
Seedlings are the fastest way to increase the amount of plants we have at home. Although there are several techniques to multiply our little plants, the most common and easiest is cutting.
Cutting is a process where you remove a piece of the mother plant, such as leaves or branches and transfer it to another environment with soil, producing a seedling. This procedure does not cause any problems for the mother plant or for the daughter plant.
However, plant offspring need a little more attention to some conditions that influence their development, check out the step-by-step below on how to make a seedling correctly!
- Assessment and preparation
First, evaluate the plant that you are going to remove the seedling, analyze the specifics of the vegetable, such as water and fertilizer, to know how to proceed with the other plant. Then prepare a vase with all the points you identified and reserve it until the seedling is removed.
- tool and cut
Usually the tool used to prune the plants is the garden shears. But if you don't have one, you can use a very sharp knife so as not to "chew" the plant's branches and damage the sap-conducting vessels.
Before trimming, detect which side of the plant is fuller and direct the pruning to that location. Look for younger branches and make a cut at the base of the branch.
- Planting
Place the cut part of the plant in the vase that you have already prepared and secure the seedling well in the ground so that it does not fall. Pay attention to daily watering, especially at this stage of development.
Now all you have to do is take care of the new seedlings and sell them in a nursery, at fairs, on the internet, in stores specializing in plants or even at your doorstep!
