When we touch on a subject related to democratization, we point out that it is not just about entertainment, playing games or even watching a live broadcast of a game. When we talk about this, we also include the inclusion of young people in the community in the job market.
With the objective of increasing the social impact in Brazil, the streaming giant YouTube, in partnership with Final Level and Gerando Falcões, I made a statement this Thursday, the 22nd, in which I announced the “Favela Gaming”.
This is a project with several activations and whose main focus is to help young people from underrepresented groups to being able to achieve successful careers that are part of the quest for a position within the games industry online. This is a market that is experiencing very expressive and constant growth, as it already has many opportunities as a professional gamer, content creator and other positions in areas within the segment.
During YouTube's annual event – BrandCast – which focuses on the advertising market, the founder of the Gerando Falcões project, Edu Lyra, gave a narrative presentation that featured several workshops and training for people that focus on the gaming industry, in addition to the championships and an exclusive arena so that participants can put into practice everything that was learned.
YouTube has been very committed to this ongoing development of Vertical Gaming. In Brazil alone, there are more than 25 million daily active users, in addition to more than 3 million specialized channels on the same platform. Another interesting point that we can highlight here is that LOL (League of Legends) and Wild Rift will have women's category tournaments and that registration is open to the public.
This announcement was made by Riot Games itself, which is the company responsible for the games. The two sports championships were named Ignis Cup for League of Legends (LOL) and Wild Circuit: Game Changers for League of Legends Wild Rift. The two will start in October and will have a prize pool of approximately R$ 110,000 each.
