The wonder of the garden: Arruda, the miracle plant
The school year has begun, and with it comes a variety of tasks and responsibilities for parents. Many love to share photos of their little ones on social media with the school uniform and the backpack on the back. However, this practice is reason for caution.
That's because, recently, an alert was published aimed at parents and guardians that these photographs, taken by themselves, can be used by child sex offenders.
Understand the need for care
As the interim assistant commissioner of the Federal Police Hilda Sirec said, even if the photos may seem harmless to parents, they can serve as good sources for predators.
For her, any and all explicit information about the school's location or logo are “weapons” that criminals can use to try to get close to children and offer help.
And this help mentioned above can reach beyond the little ones. Predators may be solicitous of parents or caregivers in order to then become familiar with them in their routine.
All this, according to Sirec, is due to the sharing of images on social networks. She also said that some collections of material relating to child abuse reached "terabytes".
She advised that parents should alert children to share with them if they sense the presence of a predator. Giving confidence to the little ones and making them comfortable to say everything is very important.
Anything that looks strange should be reported to the police.
