A group of hackers claims to have invaded the TAP airline's system to steal some data, including personal and payment information from thousands of the company's customers. The company is of Portuguese origin, operates in around 11 capitals in the country and has been one of the main routes connecting Brazil with Europe.

In response, TAP issued a somewhat dubious note, in which it would not be confirming or denying this theft of sensitive information from the company. Last week, the company reported that it had been the victim of a virtual attack, but gave the guarantee that no data from its customers and the company had been compromised.
“Today these allegations by the organized hacker group that our customer data had been stolen will be released. We at TAP continue to adopt the appropriate measures with the support of the responsible international entities and also with the local authorities, all measures related to containment and remediation will be taken appropriately in order to protect our company and also our customers", was the company's comment in a released note.
For now, no security expert has given real confirmation about the attack that hackers say they have carried out against the company. In some cases, criminal groups make these types of grandiose claims with the aim of pressuring companies to pay some fee for the rescue of information.
The announcement about this alleged company leak was made by the group known as Rangar Locker, within a page on the Deep Web. These hackers say that TAP is lying about the severity of the attack suffered last week. The group also claims that the data compromise was 'hundreds of gigabytes', which could be greater than the attack that occurred against the EasyJet airline in 2020.
“Due to the leaks of the personal information of 'only' 400 thousand customers of the EasyJet company, they ended up facing legal action worth approximately £180 million over the loss of these data". The hackers even left an ironic comment for TAP, suggesting that they hire good lawyers.
In principle, new information on the subject will be published very soon. However, in order to try to prove that the attack was real, the group posted a screenshot where appeared a list of names and also other personal information of the supposed customers of the airline TAP.
