The ideal is to start growing cherry tomatoes with seeds. In this way, take a fruit and cut it in half, and then remove the seeds. Then take a plastic cup and make a small hole in the bottom.

Germination occurs from the seventh day. Water the seedling frequently in the meantime to keep the soil moist. The seedling is ready for transplanting three weeks after the seeds have been placed in the substrate.

Initially, choose a vase of your choice to carry out the planting. There is no rule as to the material, so you can even use pet bottles of those 5 liters.

Prepare a drainage layer at the bottom of the pot containing stones or expanded clay, then add a drainage blanket or sand. Also, place substrate containing worm humus and bone or eggshell meal. Finally, carefully place the seedling in the pot.

3. irrigation and light

Water your tomato plant frequently, but without soaking the soil. In addition, with regard to light, it is essential to keep the pot in a place that receives sunlight for at least a few hours a day.

extra tips

  • Only pick the tomatoes when they are very red, indicating that they are ripe. With that in mind, use gardening pliers to help when removing.
  • In case of pest infestation, use a homemade remedy made with the skins of an onion and a glass of water. Prepare the mixture and let it boil for 3 minutes. Wait to cool down, strain, then add a glass of water to dilute and then spray the tomato plant with this mixture.
