Find out more about the challenge to find the snake
According to experts, there are two types of camouflage: when the animal has the same color as the environment (homochromy) and when the animal has the shape of the objects that make up the environment (homotypy). The snake that can be found in the photo has been identified as Philodryas olfersii, by Legião Escamada profile.
The snake Philodryas olfersii, often known as cipó or naja verde, can grow up to 1.5 meters in length and can be found in Brazil from the Amazon to Rio Grande do Sul. Many people believe that this snake is not poisonous. However, studies have confirmed that this species can be venomous.
How does the challenge work?
Camouflage is used by animals to hide from predators or even to hunt, greatly increasing their chances of survival. After the publication of the image of the “green snake” in its natural habitat camouflaging itself, users immediately started sharing their profiles and increasing the challenge.
In this sense, in a scenario full of trees, branches and lots of greenery, for some users, the image of snake hidden is very difficult to find. Furthermore, after the challenge went viral on Twitter, many other users also started sharing photos of other animals camouflaging themselves in their natural habitat.
Some animals include spiders, saruê (skunk), among other animals, very well hidden. So, at the end of the post Life in the Cerrado, users were able to access several challenges, each one more difficult than the other.
