Malware Discovered in the US Acts in 4 Minutes

This week, cybersecurity experts discovered a new malware who is able to act quickly. Named Rorschach, the technology was only discovered when a US company suffered an attack and managed to identify that the criminal action needs only 4 minutes to be completed.

Other malware on the market does not have such potency, as informed by experts at check Point Research, the company that identified the new speedy threat. In addition to being so fast, Rorschach does not share codes with similar ones and can to get rid of any security system, as well as new resources to cause damage bigger.

Potent malware roams the market

“This new ransomware has technically distinct, high-level features drawn from different families, making it special and different,” said Sergey Shukevich, manager at Check Point.

Experts analyzed the virus and found that it managed to adapt to a legitimate security feature. In this way, the malware manages to camouflage itself in a load of DLLs as if it were legitimate and safe software so as not to be identified as a threat.

The ability of this virus left experts with their hair standing on end, because, in addition to spreading across the network, it is also able to leave no trace of its presence. Possibly, the gang that architects all these attacks is not yet known in the technology market.

Despite looking like features already present in the medium, the origin resembles Yanluowang and DarkSide, so they cannot identify the root of this mystery. So far, they suggest they are unknown agents and a new gang on the market. For experts, this would be a problem.

The speed with which the attack took place was what showed the gang's professionalism. Files crash very quickly and placed Rorschach as the fastest new malware on the market, capable of reaching over 200,000 files in less than 5 minutes.
