How hair follicles were created

The recent study drew a lot of attention from the scientific community around the world and was published in the journal Science Advances. In it, it is possible to find some of the details of how the world's first laboratory creation of hair follicles took place, with the help of some rodents.

According to the reports, the scientists used cells from rodent embryos, that is, rodents that have not yet been born. Thus, scientists focused on altering these cells so that it was possible to give birth to new follicles in the same way as in humans.

After observations, the researchers identified that the created hair grew about 3 milliliters in length over a period of approximately 23 days of observation and care. The period required for this development is explained by the capillary growth cycle of rodents, which takes around one month.

Possible treatment method against baldness

The study brings a new perspective on the future of baldness treatment, a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Usually, the absence of hair follicles is explained by the genetic factor, so that no remedy is really efficient to make hair grow normally.

Currently, the most effective method is the hair transplant, in which plastic surgeons remove follicles from other parts of the body and deposit them in the gaps in the head. This treatment has gained a lot of notoriety in recent years and already moves a billionaire market.

Therefore, the creation of these follicles is a revolution in dermatological studies and indicates that, in the future, there may be more methods to reverse this situation. Until then, it is still possible to resort to various medications that help stimulate hair growth.
