It is common knowledge that at least 7 hours of sleep a day are necessary, except for part of the population that needs a more specific amount of sleep due to some illness or something like that, for example. However, as the years go by, we are sleeping less and less and worse.

For example, over the past 30 years, up to 18 minutes of sleep has been reduced per night. While, currently, 65% of the world's population reports having a problem associated with sleep.
According to studies carried out by experts on the subject, most people need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep a day, in adulthood, while 7 or 8 should be enough for the elderly. There is still a minority of the population, called short sleepers, who, with only 4 to 5 hours of sleep daily, are satisfied, but this is an exception.
It is important to note that sleeping more than 9 hours a night is not more beneficial than recommended, and may even increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and early death, for example.
