For some time now, the old satellite dishes have been lagging behind. This is because the arrival of digital antennas modernized the technology for receiving TV signals. Now, with the 5G signal, the end of satellite dishes is decreed, as this mobile internet signal directly interferes with the reception of waves by older antennas. Changing antennas can be expensive for some people, but others are entitled to a free digital antenna. Check out the article and learn more.

The abandonment of satellite dishes for digital antennas occurred once and for all, as the range in which 5G operates is very similar to the signal on which the satellite dish operates, which leads to inconsistencies in the streaming. These annoyances can range from a “drizzled” image to problems capturing the connection with the channels.
However, switching to the digital option of receivers can be expensive and not all Brazilian families are able to make this substitution. For this reason, the Government is distributing the digital antenna completely free of charge to families that meet the requirements.
Requirements to receive free digital antenna
The requirements are pretty simple and straightforward. To be entitled to the replacement of the antenna, you must be registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico) and residing in a municipality with more than 500,000 inhabitants or a Brazilian capital.
The responsibility for the distribution of these antennas lies with the partnership between the Ministry of Communications and the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) and by Siga Antenado (Band Management Entity – EAF).
It is important to clarify that only the houses that still use the conventional satellite dish need replacement, since devices such as indoor antenna and devices with “herringbone” work normally, without conflict with the 5G.
To request a free antenna replacement, if it meets the aforementioned requirements, it is possible to schedule a visit by calling 0800-729-2404. It is still possible to do so through the Siga Antenado website, as described in the step-by-step below:
- Access the website;
- Open the menu located in the upper left corner of the page;
- Click on the “Free kits distribution program” option;
- Go to “Schedule here”;
- Enter your Social Identification Number (NIS) or CPF;
- Complete the questionnaire and proceed to schedule the date and time for installation.
