Another Brazilian involved in the exchange of labels on international luggage
In March of this year, a shocking incident came to light just one day after Brazilians Jeanne Paolline and Kátyna Baía were wrongfully arrested in Berlin, Germany, also on drug trafficking charges.
Both women were originally from Goiânia and spent 37 days incarcerated in the European country, until their innocence was finally proven. Only last Saturday, the 1st, the Young pan publicized what happened.
According to recent information, a Brazilian citizen was arrested at the said airport while trying to remove two suitcases containing approximately 45 kilos of cocaine.
To everyone's surprise, the bags were identified with tags in the name of a passenger from Goiânia, that she was on a tour of Europe and apparently has no direct involvement with the case.
The Brazilian passenger involved in the second case had an unusual amount of luck. Upon arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport, she retrieved her own luggage without realizing that the tag had been switched.
After the discovery of the mistaken labels on suitcases containing cocaine, French authorities moved quickly to monitor the suspectsand waited for the moment when they would try to retrieve the luggage. It was at this time that the arrests were made.
Ângelo Sorbara, a 50-year-old Brazilian, was arrested red-handed while trying to retrieve his bags from the lost and found department at Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Evidence gathered by the authorities, according to police documents, indicates that Sorbara resides in both Mato Grosso, Brazil, and Paraguay.
In addition to Sorbara, a 31-year-old foreigner was initially detained but later released after further investigations did not find sufficient evidence of his participation in the scheme of trafficking drugs.
