Discover the iPhones that will NOT be updated in 2023

A applerecently announced the list of iPhones who will not receive the iOS 17 update in 2023. Among the models that will be left out are the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X and the iPhone SE.

This means that these devices will not have access to the optimized features and new tools that will be offered in Apple's new operating system.

iOS 17 was announced during WWDC 2023, held in June, and brings features such as StandBy Mode, NameDrop functionality, and the Journal app.

However, these new features will only be available for iPhones released from 2018 onwards, starting with the iPhone XS. Users of these older models will have to make do with iOS 16 as their last official update.

More details about iOS version 17

The beta version of iOS 17 is now available for users registered in Apple's testing program. The expectation is that the wide distribution of the new operational systemstart from the launch of the iPhone 15, scheduled for September this year.

Importantly, stopping updates is a common process across all platforms, including Android.

Over the years, older devices eventually become obsolete and fail to keep up with the demands of newer systems.

Apple, like other manufacturers, is ending support for these models in order to focus their efforts on the latest devices.

The company typically offers an update cycle of about five years for its iPhones, while the Google, for example, usually offers a support period of approximately three years for smartphones Android.

However, some manufacturers, such as samsung, have been working to extend this support period to up to four years.

While manufacturers strive to ensure more comprehensive support, some models need to be excluded from updates, mainly for security reasons.

Last year, the iPhone 7 was removed from the list of devices compatible with iOS 16, and this year other models will follow the same logic.
