Color Therapy: How it Helps Relieve Anxiety, Sleeplessness, and Pain

Everyone has a favorite color, just as many people stop wearing certain colors because they don't feel comfortable with them. But what was just a personal preference is now also used in the treatment of certain diseases. A color therapy, or chromotherapy, is a complementary method of body balance.

The ability to perceive colors is a phenomenon of physics studied in optics to talk about reflection of light. In this sense, each color has a specific wavelength that reflects a light. That's why we see blue, green and yellow, etc.

What is the meaning of each color in color therapy?

Almost all living beings on Earth can perceive colors, either through their eyes or through their skin. In this way, they interact with the environment around them to defend themselves or benefit.

Nature itself also teaches us about how colors directly influence mood or our attention span.

For example, there are potentially poisonous or dangerous animals that are quite colorful, with bright orange or red tones. And in these cases, the ideal is to stay alert to stay away from them.

Similarly, when someone wants to relax, they go to nature in search of comfort and warmth. This can happen on walks in the park, on the beach, or on walks close to gardens and trees.

This happens because the green and shades of blue present in nature evoke a sense of calm and welcome, with positive impacts on the brain and the interpretation of emotions.

In this way, chromotherapy makes the color spectrum of the visible field complement health treatments such as reduction of anxiety, insomnia and even depression, from the stimulus provoked in the nervous system central.

Commonly performed in closed environments, in which lights are emitted or from the installation of colored lamps at home, it is possible to say that there is the use of chromotherapy.
