O internet explorer (IE), considered one of the oldest and most well-known browsers in history, came to an end with the emergence of Microsoft Edge, the browser that debuted with Windows 8. After more than 27 years of service, the IE will be officially retired this Wednesday (15). So, starting from this day, Internet Explorer 11, the latest version of the browser, will no longer support Windows 10.

But why are they going to do away with Internet Explorer?
The company used the idea of offering a better Microsoft Edge user experience and provide a platform to support websites and apps modern.
In this way, this also includes having navigation security, as the browser launched in 2015 offers better protection against phishing attacks and malware (viruses that will attack your network and collect information personal).
Microsoft Edge, according to the company, is also faster at fixing security flaws. Windows 11's browser can deliver security fixes every day or even every hour, while Internet Explorer 11 only gets updates every month.
Microsoft Edge will replace Explorer
It is important to remember that Microsoft announced the end of the browser in May last year. However, before that, the Office 365 online applications had already stopped working in Internet Explorer.
However, users will now be redirected to Microsoft Edge (the only up-to-date and supported by Microsoft), the current default browser for Windows 11 that uses the same engine as Google Chrome.
“Internet Explorer Mode”
However, to be compatible with Explorer, the Edge browser has an “Internet Explorer mode” that supports websites and applications built in the old browser, such as ActiveX controls, for example.
So, to be able to enable it, go to your browser settings, select “Browser Default”, check the box next to “Allow websites to load in Internet Explorer mode” and ready!
