'Cosmic burp' from a black hole: What caused the phenomenon?

Black Hole they are strange objects in the universe where nothing escapes their gravity, including light. However, scientists have detected a black hole in the process of "cosmic belching", that is, spewing material. Therefore, in today's article, we will explain what promoted this phenomenon that shocked scientists and the actions that were taken. Keep reading to find out.

Why did the black hole eject material?

As mentioned earlier, scientists detected a black hole spewing material and realized that such a phenomenon occurred three years after it consumed a star.

The cosmic belching phenomenon should have occurred shortly after the moment in which the star was consumed, however, this did not happen. Therefore, researchers at Harvard University began monitoring the black hole after it consumed a star in 2018, waiting for this to happen and monitoring the event.

Surveys still don't have definitive answers

Scientists are trying to understand what was the reason for this delay, however, they have not yet obtained results. They are studying the case and making TDE observations in several wavelengths of light, using telescopes in countries such as Chile, South Africa, Australia and in outer space itself.

It is known that the phenomenon had not swallowed anything different during these three years, so they do not understand this activation three years after the outflow. Furthermore, researchers have revealed that the material is traveling as fast as 50% of the speed of light, whereas it is generally normal to travel at 10% of the speed of light.

One of the scientists' main doubts is whether this delay happens more often and whether this was a failure to observe TDEs or for some other reason. Furthermore, the scientists intend to increase this understanding of the behavior of black holes.
