The cameras that are above the vehicle manage to capture a new image every three seconds, as informed by the city hall, using the information to send to the responsible body. The technological vehicle was manufactured by Mapzer and has the capacity to interpret more than 30 situations that are in need of a greater alert.
Technological robot is already in Goiânia
The robot will identify manholes without covers, poles without lights, debris in inappropriate places and other issues that could harm the population. The robot was purchased in February and already operates in the streets of Goiânia, being registered as the first Brazilian city to have the technology.
The mayor of the capital, Rogério Cruz, informed that the images captured by the car are sent directly to the infrastructure secretariat so that the necessary repairs can be carried out. Mobility specialist Érika Cristine, professor at UFG (Federal University of Goiás), says that technology needs to serve for something beyond information.
“If the information generated is turned into concrete actions by the city hall, and it manages to identify and remedy problems encountered, this system becomes an investment. However, if it is just to generate information and nothing is done to improve people's lives, unfortunately, public money is spent”, analyzed the teacher.
The technology will cost BRL 201,000 a month, totaling an annual income of BRL 2.4 million, so that it can be obtained without bidding and placed as “non-enforceable”. On TV Anhanguera, the TCM (Court of Audit of the Municipality) reported that it remains uninterested in verifying the bidding contract and this will only happen if there are complaints of irregularities.
