'Blind Wedding': 5 behind-the-scenes secrets of Netflix's reality show

Have you already started the new season of "Blind Wedding" on Netflix? The show follows couples who know each other without seeing each other. They talk in booths, discover affinities and, only afterwards, do they come face to face and live together for a while. At the end, they go up to the altar to say “yes” or “no” when the priest asks if they accept each other as husband and wife.

But the reality TV – like all others – has its secrets. Much of the audience is unaware of how everything happens behind the cameras.

And people are often surprised. For example: it's not just camera couples who fall in love and stay together, you know? Others also get married on the show, but this is not shown.

, the production of “Casamento à Cegas” also makes a selection with the participants. This is to know if they have interesting stories to air, if they are charismatic people and if they are, in fact, willing to participate in the dynamics of the program.

In addition, they are also confined for a little while. During this period, they do not have access to cell phones, family, friends (…) nothing. Total isolation to look forward to what happens next.

Participants of the reality show are entitled to free drinks and food. That is, all those drinks and dishes that you see during the episodes come out in the range for couples. Makes you want to participate, doesn't it?

If you organize it right...

All participants talk to each other at least once, for seven minutes. This happens so that everyone can get to know each other and give them a chance to have that “match”. We don't see that because conversations aren't always very interesting and singles aren't always excited.

Couples cannot go back. In the contract, it is very clear that they have to go through with it, even if they have no intention of getting married and living happily ever after. That is, they have to go up on the altar anyway.

Even so, in the second season of the program, the couple Maíra and Guilherme ended their relationship days before the wedding. With that, they did not even go up to the altar – despite having continued in reality until the last episode.

This one works harder than we think, see? The production makes a sieve to find out which couples “yield” more for the program: those who can have more attrition, with a stronger personality or those who get along and guarantee instant “ship” for the public.
